3.5% lifetime payout + 1% roll-up

A 12-year-surrender fixed indexed annuity from an A+ rated North American — the long-surrender version of the PrimePath Pro family — with a participation-led underlying menu on Morgan Stanley and S&P proprietary indexes alongside a conservative S&P 500 annual cap, narrower state availability, a published annual free-withdrawal allowance, and a nursing-home surrender waiver; published lifetime-income terms vary by state and are currently available for California and Florida but not Texas.

Product analyst notes

How to think about this contract

Why it can stand out

  • Published terms vary by state: California and Florida currently include Lifetime Payment Amount income options, while the age-60, year-10 Texas comparison includes contract strategy, surrender, ratings, availability, and liquidity details without lifetime-income terms.
  • Underlying strategy menu is participation-led, with strategies on Morgan Stanley Dynamic Global, Morgan Stanley Dynamic Contribution, S&P MARC, and S&P Maestro proprietary indexes — both fee-bearing 'Strategy Fee Included' and no-fee variants are offered on the S&P excess-return indexes, giving buyers an explicit fee/no-fee choice.
  • 12-year surrender — a longer rate-lock window than the 10-year sibling, which the carrier compensates with stronger underlying participation rates on the proprietary indexes.
  • Published annual free-withdrawal allowance with a published nursing-home surrender-charge waiver — penalty-free liquidity and a named life-event exit are both visible inside the long surrender window.
  • Income terms can vary by state and sibling contract; confirm the published terms for the buyer's state instead of carrying over assumptions from the 10-year version.

What to confirm

  • The S&P 500 annual point-to-point cap on this contract is conservative — the contract's growth potential leans on the proprietary-index participation strategies, not on the S&P 500 cap. Buyers who want a strong S&P 500 cap as their primary growth strategy should compare against the 10-year PrimePath Pro sibling.
  • The S&P 500 monthly-sum cap is NOT directly comparable to an annual cap (a monthly-sum cap caps monthly gains but does not cap monthly losses) — do not read it as if it were an annual S&P 500 cap.
  • Several of the participation strategies carry an explicit 'Strategy Fee Included' rate charged against the credit, which is a fee-bearing 'enhanced' rate. Per the rollout's headline-discipline rule, fee-bearing rates are NOT the contract's headline — treat them as a separate choice, not as the comparable rate.
  • 12-year surrender is long for an FIA market and the contract is available in fewer states than the 10-year sibling. Confirm your state is on the contract and that you can commit principal for 12 years before electing this variant over the 10-year sibling.
  • Do not quote a numeric lifetime-income amount, rider design, charge, growth formula, or equivalent value for a state and scenario where those structured terms are not published.

Not ideal for

Buyers who need exact lifetime-income numbers, rider design, charges, or growth methodology directly from this page; buyers who want a stronger S&P 500 annual cap should compare against the 10-year PrimePath Pro sibling.

Common questions about PrimePath Pro 12

Can I lose money in PrimePath Pro 12?

A negative index return by itself does not reduce the contract's account value: PrimePath Pro 12 credits 0% — the floor — for that indexed period. The account value can still decrease from applicable rider fees, Performance Rate Rider or other strategy charges, administrative charges, withdrawals, surrender charges, or other contract-specific deductions. In years with no credited interest, those deductions can reduce the account value. Up to 7% of your value can be withdrawn each year without a charge; withdrawals above the penalty-free amount during the surrender period can incur a surrender charge.

Is the Lifetime Payment Amount (LPA) Rider - Level Income income rider worth it?

It depends on whether you will use the guaranteed income. If you are accumulating only, you can skip it. If you want guaranteed lifetime income later, the 1% roll-up and 3.5% withdrawal rate can make it worthwhile — model it in the Income tab of the analyzer above.

When can I access my money without a surrender charge?

Up to 7% of your account value each year is penalty-free. The scheduled surrender charges run 12 years; after that the surrender-charge schedule ends. Bonus vesting, market value adjustments when applicable, and other contract rules can still affect the amount available. The Liquidity tab of the analyzer shows the year-by-year surrender charge.

How do PrimePath Pro 12's crediting strategies compare?

Use "Compare against" in the analyzer to overlay another available PrimePath Pro 12 strategy on the same premium, age, years, and hypothetical index path. The control labels the strategy type, rate, index, and context so caps, participation rates, triggers, spreads, and fixed-account choices are not treated as interchangeable.

Crediting design

How the interest-crediting choices are framed

PrimePath Pro 12 currently shows 18 indexed or fixed crediting options, including S&P 500 Index and Fixed Account, with 14 volatility-controlled index options grouped separately. These choices matter because caps, participation rates, fixed accounts, spreads, renewal terms, and fee-bearing rider variants are different mechanics and should not be ranked as one simple rate list.

  • S&P 500 Index: 2.6% monthly cap
  • S&P 500 Index: 9% annual cap
  • S&P 500 Index: 40% annual participation rate
  • Fixed Account: 3.75% fixed account rate

Income rider language

What to look for before treating the rider as income

Lifetime Payment Amount (LPA) Rider - Level Income is the main income rider listed for this product. Rider terms can affect the tradeoff between future lifetime withdrawals, contract value, beneficiary value, and cost, so the exact state version and rider election should be confirmed before comparing it to annuitization or income-only contracts.

  • 3.5% withdrawal rate

Liquidity terms

Why access rules deserve as much attention as rates

A fixed indexed annuity can preserve more control than an income-only contract, but access is still governed by the surrender schedule, free-withdrawal terms, and waiver language. Those details are where many product comparisons become more meaningful than a simple rate list.

  • 7%/yr free withdrawal
  • 12 surrender years
  • Nursing home waiver

Verification note

Use carrier materials as term evidence, then confirm the current version

Carrier materials such as 32796Z - PrimePath Pro 12 brochure.pdf help explain the contract language behind the data on this page; the latest document activity we see is Apr 8, 2026. For the current brochure, rate sheet, or specimen contract, confirm the state-specific version with the carrier or a licensed financial professional.

  • Rates and rider terms can vary by state and issue age
  • Carrier guarantees depend on claims-paying ability
  • Current contract forms should be confirmed before purchase
