RateProtector NY is a long-term, tax-deferred vehicle designed for retirement, and earnings are taxable as ordinary income when distributed and may be subject to a 10% additional tax for withdrawals before age 59½. Withdrawals during the initial guaranteed option period may be subject to withdrawal charges and a Market Value Adjustment (MVA), which may reduce the accumulated contract value. After the initial guaranteed option period ends, renewal interest rates are guaranteed for one-year periods and will never fall below the contract’s declared Guaranteed Minimum Interest Rate (GMIR), which is currently 2.65% and is recalculated annually after the initial guaranteed option period.

At the end of the 3-, 5-, or 7-year guaranteed option period, the owner may provide renewal instructions. If no instruction is given, the contract automatically renews for a one-year guaranteed option period. Renewal interest rates are declared annually and will never be less than the contract’s GMIR, recalculated every year after the initial guarantee period.
