Surrender charges apply if a withdrawal exceeds 10% of account value during the penalty period. Charges are waived during the 30 days following the end of the guaranteed rate period. A market value adjustment (MVA) also applies to amounts withdrawn early, unless waived by a qualifying rider such as nursing home confinement. Rider election is required for any waiver.
